APPELLO DI A.N.S.W.E.R. A CUI ADERIAMO DALL'INIZIO ALLA MOBILITAZIONE CONTRO LA RIUNIONE DEL WTO A NEW YORG ALL'INIZIO DEL MESE PROSSIMO
PERMITTED DEMONSTRATION AND RALLY TO TAKE PLACE
IN FRONT OF WALDORF ASTORIA HOTEL
ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2
WHAT:
Demonstration against the World Economic Forum
DATE:
Saturday, February 2
TIME:
11 am
LOCATION:
@ the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, 50th St. and Park Ave.
New York City
In response to permit applications placed by organizers at
International A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War & End
Racism), the New York Police Department have stated that
they *WILL NOT* be creating a Quebec-type exclusion zone
surrounding the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, the site of the
annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
In fact, there will be permitted protests at 50th St. and
Park Ave., the northwest corner of the Waldorf.
The WEF has traditionally met in Davos, Switzerlad, where
it was the target of massive anti-globalization
demonstrations. Organizers in the A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition
vow that the move to New York City by the W.E.F. - whose
members activists are calling the "face of economic
terrorism" - will not help its CEOs, bankers and
billionaires avoid protest.
A.N.S.W.E.R. is calling for all those who oppose the
anti-poor policies of the World Economic Forum; who oppose
U.S. wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere; who stand
against racism, for civil liberties and for civil rights
to convergence at 50th St. and Park Ave. at 11 am on
Saturday, February 2.
